Royal baby news live: Updates as Meghan Markle and Prince Harry prepare for birth of first child

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are expected to announce the birth of their first child any day now.

The child, which will be seventh in line for the throne, is due in late April or early May and Meghan is now on maternity leave from official royal duties as the world awaits news of the birth.

The couple has previously announced their new-born would not be making his or her public appearance on its first day in the world, a step away from royal tradition.

In a statement, Buckingham Palace said: “They look forward to sharing the exciting news with everyone once they have had an opportunity to celebrate privately as a new family.”

They also haven't confirmed or denied speculation that Baby Sussex will be born at home at Frogmore Cottage, near Windsor Castle.
