Royal baby name: Top TEN choices for Meghan and Harry - latest betting odds

Betting companies have slashed the odds of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's baby being called Albert, making it one of the favourites for the name of the child.

The royal baby is due to be born any day now and there has been a frenzy of betting on likely names.

William Hill has cut the odds of the baby being called Albert from 33 to one to 16 to one, with one punter apparently putting £700 down on the name.

The bookmakers said the Duke and Duchess of Sussex may opt for the name as a tribute to Queen Victoria's husband, Albert.

The most popular potential names are: Diana (4/1), Victoria (7/1), Alice (12/1), Grace (12/1), Isabella or Isobella (12/1), Elizabeth (14/1), Arthur (16/1), James (16/1) and Albert.

Meghan Markle lookalike Sarah Mhlanga, 35, has been eyeing up the odds on names and caused consternation when she visited a William Hill shop in Partington Shopping Centre, Greater Manchester, to check out prices.

Mark Kean, 37, said: "I was popping in for a bet when I saw this lady with a baby bump looking in the window, I was eating a sausage and egg barm and nearly choked when I saw her face.

"It was amazing as you don't see Meghan Markle, or even any girls that look like Meghan, knocking about Partington Shopping Centre."

Sarah said she found the experience of being mistaken for Meghan quite funny.

She added: "It happens all the time and with me wearing the baby bump for the first-time for a photoshoot it just added a little bit extra to the lookalike situation.

"My favourite names for the Royal baby would be Diana if a girl and James if a boy.

Why Royal website hasn't revealed Meghan Markle's baby's name - despite fans spotting 'clue'

"They are both pretty short odds with Diana the favourite with William Hill at 4-1 and James at 16-1 the favourite for a boy along with Arthur and Albert.

"I don't think they will call her Chardonnay at 500-1 and Samantha, the name of Meghan's sister would probably be an even longer shot after all the fuss. April and May are interesting bearing in mind when the birth is due.

"They are even offering odds on the gender of the baby and it is 10-11 a boy, or 10-11 a girl and they offer the same prices on the baby being born in the morning or the afternoon.

"And the weight of the baby starts with 2-1favs either 7lbs to 7lbs 15oz, or 8lbs to 8lbs 15oz, so that is interesting.

"If you can pick the day of birth then the odds are 11-2, but I am not sure what day is my favourite, so maybe nearer the time I will have a feeling for the correct day."
