James, Spencer and Alexander have been revealed as the three most popular baby name options punters are picking for Harry and Meghan’s newborn son.
The Duchess of Sussex gave birth to a healthy boy on Monday morning, but “thrilled” new dad Prince Harry said royal fans would have to wait a little longer to find out the baby’s name.
According to Ladbrokes, James is now the most popular name in the book among punters, followed closely by Spencer.
Alexander is now third in the popularity stakes, with Arthur and Oliver hitting the forth and fifth spots respectively.
Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: "We've seen a steady flow on James since yesterday's announcement but the latest flurry favours Oliver and we've slashed odds accordingly as a result.
“Remember, just because a name receives the most bets doesn’t mean it has the highest odds of winning. We have to consider a number of factors when calculating those values. So, for example, Alexander is the third most popular name among punters, but it currently has the highest odds of winning in the betting stakes,” he explained.
The baby boy – an eighth great-grandchild for the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh – arrived at 5.26am, weighing 7lb 3oz.
New mum Meghan has since been recuperating at the Sussexes' Windsor home Frogmore Cottage, although the birth itself reportedly took place in secret at a London hospital.
Prince William said he was "absolutely thrilled" about the birth of his new nephew, adding he was "looking forward to seeing them in the next few days when things have quietened down."
Speaking in Berlin, Prince Charles said: "We couldn't be more delighted at the news and we're looking forward to meeting the baby when we return."
