Royal baby: Meghan Markle and Prince Harry to unveil their son to the world TODAY

The world is set to get its first glimpse of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's son today when the parents pose for pictures.

Just two days ago, proud dad Harry addressed the media to say that he was now father to a 'very healthy' boy.

The clearly delighted Duke of Sussex signed off by telling reporters he would see them on Wednesday for a photocall in Windsor.

The photo opportunity has been set up after the royal couple declined to pose on the hospital steps with their first born.

That was in contrast to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge who posed on the steps of the private Lindo Wing with their children.

As well as a first picture, royal fans will be eager to hear whether the Harry and Meghan have decided on a name for their first child.

When Harry appeared on Monday he suggested the couple were close to settling on a choice.

He told the assembled press:  "The baby is a little bit overdue so we've had a little bit of time to think about it. That's the next bit."

There has been much speculation about what name the couple might choose with bookies odds fluctuating.

Royal baby: Inside story of what happened during birth of Meghan and Harry's son

Earlier this week, one royal expert claimed the couple may opt for a name that resonates in both the US and UK, like Alexander.

However, while that is one of the favourites, others include Spencer, James, Arthur and Albert.

Included in the photocall today for the child, who is seventh in the line to the throne, is US broadcaster CBS, who the couple have reportedly insisted join.

The network's morning show is fronted by Meghan's pal Gayle King, who took part in the Duchess of Sussex's baby shower.

The otherwise small press pool, will include one TV camera, one photographer and one agency reporter to ask questions. That footage will then be shared worldwide.

When Kate and William's three children were born, she and her husband posed for pictures in front of a huge pack of the world's media waiting for the first snap.
