Royal baby: 16 pictures of the Windsor family when they were children

With the Duchess of Sussex due to give birth imminently, excitement is brewing over the arrival of the royal baby.

Many aspects of the pregnancy are yet been confirmed, including whether or not Meghan Markle will give birth in the Lindo Wing of St Mary's Hospital in London and what the baby's name will be.

As the nation prepares to welcome a new member of the royal family, some may be reminiscing over what the rest of the Windsors looked like when they were children.

Over the years, royal fans have commented on the resemblance between Queen Elizabeth II and Princess Charlotte, and between Prince George and his father the Duke of Cambridge.

From a young Prince Charles waving at his parents to a two-year-old Princess Beatrice mischievously hiding underneath a table at a polo event, here are 16 pictures of the royal family when they were children:

It's strongly suspected the Duchess of Sussex will give birth in the Lindo Wing, following in the footsteps of her sister-in-law the Duchess of Cambridge.

The Lindo Wing is home to a private maternity ward which has served as the location for several royal births, including those of Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

The duchess' baby will be delivered by a royal gynaecologist, as is tradition with royal births.

The current royal surgeon-gynaecologist is Alan Farthing, while the royals’ consultant obstetrician is Guy Thorpe-Beeston.
