The jockeys at today's Royal Ascot meeting made a touching tribute to tragic Irish teenager Tiggy Hancock.
Tiggy, 15, died after sustaining serious injuries during a training session on Wednesday for the Irish eventing team.
Her family from outside Bagenalstown, in Co Carlow, have a long connection with equestrian sport.
And the jockeys at today's Royal Ascot meeting wore a yellow ribbon on their silks in her memory.
Kerry rider Oisin Murphy said: "There are no words to describe how her family is feeling. We all send our thoughts and prayers.
"It certainly puts life into perspective as we all grew up, certainly as jockeys, riding ponies.
"We all know young people and we were there ourselves.
"All of the jockeys are going to wear these today, and I just want to say that we are all thinking of her and her family."
Edmund Kearney, a friend of the family, said Tiggy was on track to have a highly successful career.
The funeral director said: “She was on her way to the top. She was a girl who you would have been writing about for years to come if this hadn’t happened to her.”
Edmund said Tiggy had been riding from a very young age and she adored horses and equestrian sport.
He added: “I’d say she was riding when she could walk. She represented Ireland several times and she had a very bright future.”
