Royal Ascot hosts the King and Queen, and Sydney Sweeney in Camden

Stiff but sweaty upper lips at Royal Ascot, which has been graced by a heatwave, the King and Queen plus prince and princesses of London’s social scene. Lennon Gallagher, who will soon jet off with girlfriend Izzy Richmond on the Oasis world tour, won more than £1,000 with two knowing bets. “I’m going to spend it all on McDonald’s,” he said, looking dapper. “I’ve never worn a tailcoat. This is Gieves & Hawkes and I’ve never dressed so well in my life.”

Richmond offered her own dressing advice: “Don’t wear a dress that’s too big, girls, because it will slip down and everything is going to fall out — which I’ve been told isn’t the done thing at Ascot.” Less boobage in Fiona Howden’s box, then, where she was joined by insurance broker husband David, fresh from receiving his CBE, and Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh: perhaps the Duchess will attend Wilderness Festival on their Cornbury estate this August. Meanwhile, Penny Lancaster came with her and Rod’s son Alastair, who was the heart-throb of day one, frankly.

At the end of last week, it was Little Simz’s performance at The House of Koko in celebration of the Miu Miu Bond Street store reopening that had everyone’s tongues wagging. Sydney Sweeney notoriously has that effect.
