Royal Ascot fans think Big Narstie lit up joint in 'hilarious' ITV interview

Royal Ascot viewers think they spotted Big Narstie smoking a joint as he appeared via a video link in an interview with ITV Racing.

The 35-year-old rapper, who has a horse named after him in this year's races, appeared thrilled to join the presenters for a chat during today's event.

In the scenes, ITV presenters Oli Bell and Chris Hughes donned top hats as they chatted to Big Nastie on the screen. As well as giving some entertaining insights into the races, fans are also convinced that the rapper was cheekily smoking a splif during the interview.

Big Narstie appeared in high spirits as he donned a bright green t-shirt while calling into the show. He then appears to take a drag of an unusual looking cigarette before chatting to the presenters.

During the segment, the rapper praised the horse that had been named after him as the 'first-ever Rasta horse'.

ITV then shared a clip of the interview online but appears to have edited out the moment where the rapper took a drag.

Despite this, viewers couldn't get enough of the moment and took to social media to share their thoughts on the 'hilarious' interview.

"Just Big Narstie, giving his Royal Ascot selections to ITV whilst blazing. King," penned one fan.

Another added: "That appearance from Big Narstie on @itvracing was hilarious. I have a feeling that whether his namesake wins or loses he will still be "off his nut" in Tenerife later."

A third wrote: "hahaha Big Narstie is a legend."

"Big Narstie smoking a spliff live on Zoom at Royal Ascot has done me in," added a fourth.

Big Narstie has made no secret of his marijuana use and has also advocated for it to be legalised in the past. In 2018, he told The Big Issue : "Right now my big issues, personally, are housing, employment, legalisation of cannabis – free the herbs!"

He has also shared posts of himself on social media in which he does 'weed yoga'.

The grime star's appearance at Royal Ascot comes on the third day of the five-day event held at the Ascot racecourse in Berkshire. It marks the biggest racing event of the year, with 12,000 spectators invited to watch the races each day.

This year's races are being considered as a test that might determine how large-scale events can go on during the pandemic in the future.

Ascot has been very strict with Covid-19 procedures and is making sure everyone has a PCR test as well as daily lateral flow tests throughout the event.
