Royal Ascot day two tips, best bets and preview plus selections for Hamilton, Uttoxeter, Nottingham and Ripon

Our man Garry Owen has gone through the card for day two of Royal Ascot.

BASHKIROVA (4.20) fits the bill for William Haggas in the Duke Of Cambridge Stakes on Day Two of Royal Ascot.

The filly looked smart when landing her first two stars in taking style at Nottingham and Newcastle.

She quickly improved again when hammering Madame Tantzy on her handicap bow at Newmarket.

The four-year then definitely didn’t stay 1m 2f when only seventh on her Listed debut at Doncaster.

She got back on track when edged out by Mrs Fitzherbert on her return over a mile at Goodwood.

The daughter of Pivotal put in another personal best when routing Potipova in an Epsom Group 3.

The Cheveley Park raider is open to plenty of progress so she can add this superb Group 2 to her CV.

LADY TILBURY (2.30) can land the odds for shrewd David Marnane in the Queen Mary Stakes.

The two-year-old looked smart when second to Ocean Vision on debut on the Dundalk all-weather.

The filly immediately confirmed that impression when hosing up from Woman Chief on Turf at Cork.

She oozed class once again when decisively defeating the useful Mehmar up in grade at Tipperary.

There is plenty more to come from this speedy youngster who can deny some promising rivals.

BALTIC BIRD (3.05) can soar for John Gosden in another warm renewal of the Queen’s Vase.

The son of Frankel caught the eye when third to the talented Nahanni on debut at Leicester.

The colt built on that effort when narrowly beaten by the progressive New Comedy at Haydock.

He then made no mistake with an impressive defeat of Naval College at Yarmouth last month.

The three-year-old was staying-on well so he can bag this 1m 6f Group 2 under Frankie Dettori.

BAY BRIDGE (3.40) can give Sir Michael Stoute more Group 1 joy in the Prince Of Wales’s Stakes.

The colt relished stepping up to 1m 2f with a string of impressive handicap victories last Summer.

He shrugged off the promotion to Listed level when cosily denying Majestic Dawn at Newmarket.

Stoute excels with his older improvers so big things were expected of the four-year-old this year.

He certainly looked better than ever when crushing Mostahdaf on his return in a Sandown Group 3.

The son of New Bay is a proper Group 1 performer so he can sail through his toughest test to date.

The Royal Hunt Cup is as trappy as ever but I’m backing Roger Varian’s LEGEND OF DUBAI (5.00).

The four-year-old was second to the classy Lone Eagle on his handicap bow at Doncaster in 2020.

The son of Dubawi was given plenty of time to mature so he didn’t reappear until August 2021.

However, he defied his absence by comfortably beating Golden Crusader over 1m 4f at Ffos Las.

Off for another 241 days, the gelding slammed Carolus Magnus back over a mile at Newmarket.

Obaid Al Maktoum's horse is probably Group-class so he can make light of a well-earned 11lb hike.

Some exciting sprinters clash in the Windsor Castle Stakes but I’m picking CHATEAU (5.35).

Andrew Balding’s horse was a fine third to Remarkable Force on debut in a hot Salisbury novice.

The colt then defied a difficult passage to edge Rogue Spirit in the Beverley Two-Year-Old Trophy.

The juvenile clearly has a bright future so he can come late and fast yet again in this Listed event.

Joseph O’Brien’s HAZIYA (6.10) is well worth punting in the tricky Kensington Palace Stakes.

The four-year-old didn’t really set the heather on fire over 1m 2f for Michael Halford last season.

However, she thrashed Jungel Cove first time out for her new yard over a mile at Leopardstown.

The filly ran another blinder when a close third to Celtic Crown in the Emerald Mile at the Curragh.

The Qatar Racing raider is nicely unexposed for Team Owning Hill so she can resume winning ways.

GHOSTLY (1.50) can terrify the bookies for Stella Barclay on Lookers Audi Raceday at Hamilton.

The grey shaped like his turn was near when just denied by Haven Lady over 1m 5f at this venue.

John Quinn is hitting form so I’m on SANTABELLA (2.20) in the EBF Restricted Novice Stakes.

The filly rates a sure-fire improver after his excellent debut second to New Hope Bullet at Catterick.

REWARD SMILE (2.55) can maintain Hugo Palmer’s terrific run in the EBF Maiden Stakes.

(John Grossick)

The juvenile can open his account with a repeat of his third to Bradsell in a deeper event at York.

The Cheshire Ace can also take the Bothwell Castle Handicap with GLITTERING CHOICE (4.40).

The filly left her lacklustre juvenile form behind when narrowly beaten by Amanzoe at Leicester.

The three-year-old stayed a mile well that day so she can gain compensation in a strong contest.

Palmer can make it three with PRINCE OF PERSIA (5.15) in the Lookers Classified Stakes.

The gelding showed enough in three runs at two to suggest he can do plenty of damage this year.

QUANAH (3.30) can make yet another successful raid on Hamilton in the DM Hall Handicap.

Liam Bailey’s charge ran well again when second to the useful Refuge over five furlongs here.

The gelding is even better over six furlongs so he can take full advantage of an attractive mark.

SOPHIESTICATE (4.10) can turn on the style for thriving Jim Goldie in the VIP Handicap.

The three-year-old didn’t quite get home over 1m 1f when second to Shahnaz here last week.

That was still a clear career best so this lightly-raced filly should go one better dropped in trip.
