Royal Albert GOALKEEPER scores against Wishaw Juniors but players must bounce back

Wishaw Juniors assistant manager Paul Finnigan says the players can’t feel sorry for themselves after a freak goal-kick opened the scoring against Royal Albert.

The Beltane outfit face a West League One relegation battle following a bizarre goal-kick from Scott Somerville looped into the net to put the home side in front.

However, club favourite KB Grant levelled the game to take a point back to North Lanarkshire.

Assistant gaffer Finnigan says the players can’t led their heads drop with a hard luck story.

Finnigan said: “We need to take our chances when we get them, because when you are down at the bottom of the table you don’t get too many.

“We play well in spells and we have good players at the club, but it’s just not going for us at the moment and that can happen when you’re down the bottom of the table.

“It’s a bit of a freak goal that they get and that’s just the luck you get when you’re down there.

“We have to take responsibility for it as a collective and they got back into the game. We can’t just feel sorry for ourselves.”

Maryhill visit Wishaw this weekend, and Finnigan admits they are risk of being stuck at the wrong end of the table.

He added: “We have players here who technically are excellent.

“It’s a massive game for us to try and make up some ground on the teams around us.

“There is always a focus on the home games at our level, but for me it’s about winning no matter where you play.

“You never know if it will be you who is on the end of a decision, or a freak goal, going into the weekend.

“It’s important that we turn a corner soon and get a bit of lift.

“A win can breed a positive mentality through the group, and help the boys relax a bit more in games now.

“They are good players and we try to put that across to them in training. It’s just not going their way just now but they have to remember that.”
