Royal Albert are latest club to quit West Of Scotland League

Royal Albert are the latest club to quit the West Of Scotland League as clubs look to a future without fans or changing facilities.

The news follows a decision taken by Lesmahagow last night to withdraw from the league.

In a statement issued on social media, the club said: "The club has made the difficult decision to withdraw from the WOSFL for this season.

"There are various reasons for this decision, none of which were taken easily.

"Financially, no crowds, no changing facilities for players, especially approaching winter.

"We had waited to see how the Covid situation would go, but there was likelihood of it not changing soon.

"We would like to thank all our supporters and sponsors for their continued support throughout this time and can assure them we will be back next season stronger than this season.

"We will honour all season tickets bought for next season."

Royal Albert had been due to kick off their Conference C season at Glasgow Perthshire.
