Royal admits being a rap music fan - and enjoys Eminem as he 'gets her feet tapping'

When we think of the Royal Family we don't often think of rap music, but it turns out that one of the royals is a fan of artists like Eminem and Ice Cube. Katharine, the Duchess of Kent, has opened up about her lifelong love of music and teaching music at Wansbeck Primary School in Hull.

In an interview with The Telegraph, Duchess Katharine, who is married to the Queen's cousin, Prince Edward, The Duke of Kent, explained how she will listen to anything that catches her ear on the radio - even rap music. She has previously declared a fondness for the boy band Blue and has just shared her interest in rappers.

"If it makes my feet tap then I'm happy," she told interviewer Camilla Tominey, before adding that she has listened to the likes of Eminem and Ice Cube, but not Stormzy or Kanye West.

The 89-year-old, whose full name is Katharine Lucy Mary Worsley, went on to admit that even thrash metal music wasn't out of the realm of possibility for her.

She claimed she'd give it a go but "possibly not for long", adding: "My husband likes music, but very serious music. I'll listen to anything. I even like beatboxing."

The Duchess of Kent joined the Royal Family in 1961 when she married Prince Edward.

She stepped back from royal duties in 1996 and decided to stop using the title of 'Her Royal Highness' in 2002.

Despite this, Katarine has attended several royal events since then, including the wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge in 2011 and the Queen's Jubilee celebrations in 2012.
