Roy Keane 'wants' Celtic manager job as Manchester United legend eyes dugout return

Roy Keane is reportedly keen on the Celtic job as he eyes up a return to management for next season.

The former midfielder had a legendary playing career which included close to 500 games for Manchester United.

It was at Celtic that Keane finished his career though, making 10 league appearances as his boyhood club lifted the league title in 2005-06.

He then moved into management with Sunderland and Ipswich before working as Martin O'Neill's assistant with the Republic of Ireland and Nottingham Forest.

And now the Scottish Sun reports that Keane wants to get back in the hotseat himself and would consider an offer to replace Neil Lennon.

The 49-year-old previously held talks in 2014 before Ronny Deila's appointment and is said to be seen by Dermot Desmond at the kind of big name who would inspire fans.

It's thought Keane would be willing to work with the current backroom team, including caretaker boss John Kennedy, while his salary demands would not be an issue as he looks to return to management after 10 years.

The Irishman's previous roles at Sunderland and Ipswich were patchy, though he did win promotion with the Mackems.

Overall his win percentage as a manager stands at just 38.7 per cent.
