Roy Keane visits Manchester United fan Jack O'Driscoll who was left paralysed after fall

Roy Keane paid a visit to a Manchester United fan who was left paralysed after a fall last year.

Fellow Corkonian Jack O'Driscoll was left paralysed from the shoulders down after a freak fall last year fractured his C1 vertebrae in his neck.

It happened when he fell into a snow drift while out with friends in March, 2018.

He has had to spend months recovering in the High Dependency Unit (HDU) at the Mater Hospital in Dublin and the National Rehabilitation Hospital in Dun Laoghaire, reports Cork Beo.

After the accident, a GoFundMe was launched to help his recovery and it raised a staggering €140,000.

Speaking in May this year, Jack said: "I probably will need further surgery in Dublin but I am working on rehabilitation in the gym and with exercises.

"The aim is over the next couple of weeks to get home. The house renovation is done.

"The equipment for me to be able to get out of the wheelchair into bed, I'm just waiting on that.

"I am starting to be able to hold my wrists up and get more control over them.

"Every week there is some small goal, small achievements. I am getting something back every week. I am getting stronger all the time.

"My aim is to come back to college. I want to be as independent as I can, get myself in and out of a push chair, driving, getting myself dressed in the morning."

Keano made the visit early last week the pair spent ages talking football and how Jack was getting on with his recovery.
