Roy Keane urges Ed Woodward and Manchester United to back Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Former Manchester United captain Roy Keane says the club should "100%" stick with manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Keane was on punditry duty for United's 1-1 draw with Arsenal at Old Trafford, which meant the club has now embarked on their worst Premier League start after seven games.

But as questions over some of Solskjaer's decision-making start to creep into discussion surrounding United, Keane insists the former striker should get another two transfer windows at least to work with the squad.

Referencing the injuries Solskjaer has had to deal with and the number of young players in the first team squad, Keane said United executive vice chairman Ed Woodward must back his chosen man in the coming transfer markets.

He told Sky Sports: "I think he has been brilliant, a good honest guy.

Solskjaer: We need to learn to win

"It is hard work at the moment, but there are six or seven young players learning their way.

"We’re all very impatient, we want success yesterday, but you have to give the man time. He is frustrated, under pressure, but dealing with it. He’s a classy guy but no doubt he will be disappointed at not winning enough games.

"They have given him the job, support him in a couple of transfer windows. Are there more tough days ahead? You bet your life, but you need to stick with it. There was a lack of quality from both teams tonight. Their lack of goals, the lack of opportunities they’re creating."

However, Keane did predict that Solskjaer will struggle to get United back into the Champions League this season based on their showing against Arsenal.

"Give these boys time," he continued. "But on tonight's performance, none of them [Arsenal or United] will be in the top four."
