Roy Keane to Celtic betting suspended as bookies predict Irishman to be next boss

Betfair have suspended betting on Roy Keane to be the next Celtic manager after a series of bets on the Irishman.

The former Hoops midfielder has been backed into 1/3 on after starting the week at 15/2 to replace Neil Lennon at the helm.

It comes after Micah Richards stirred the pot with a tweet suggesting the Irishman was about to take over at Celtic Park in the coming days.

Keane previously turned down the Celtic job when Lennon left the club following his first spell with Ronny Deila taking over as boss on that occasion.

But now Betfair seem sure that he will be in charge of the Premiership club soon and could be announced as the next Celtic boss in the coming days.

Betfair spokesperson Sam Rosbottom said: “Following a flurry of bets on Roy Keane to become the next Celtic manager, Betfair has suspended betting on who will take over at Celtic Park.

“On Monday, Keane was 15/2 to take over from Neil Lennon but punters heavily backed the Irishman into 1/3 before the market was suspended on Thursday afternoon.

“It seems clear to punters that Celtic are ready to name their new manager and that Roy Keane will be walking through the door any time now.”
