Sky Sports pundit Roy Keane has described Serge Aurier's penalty concession against Leicester City as 'madness'.
Tottenham suffered their second consecutive defeat on Sunday when they lost to Leicester, who leapfrogged Jose Mourinho's men with the win.
It looked to be a close encounter but the game opened up in stoppage time at the end of the first half when Aurier conceded a penalty with a foul on Wesley Fofana.
The Spurs full-back ploughed into the back of his Leicester counterpart and after a VAR review, Jamie Vardy was given the chance to put his side ahead - an opportunity he duly took.
At half-time, Manchester United legend turned Sky Sports pundit Keane gave his verdict on the incident. Replying to fellow pundit Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, he said: "There is a word, Jimmy - madness.
"I wanna be careful what I say about this defender because I’ve been down this road before with him. What a madness.
"There’s no danger, he’s not in on goal, he’s not looking at the ball. He’s an experienced player, madness. He wasn’t thinking. He doesn’t think, this lad doesn’t think."
Leicester went on to add to their lead with Toby Alderweireld scoring an own goal in the second-half to rubber-stamp the defeat for Spurs, who slip to fourth in the table.
Mourinho now has to find answers to his side's first real slump of the season with Tottenham now three games without a win following a draw with Crystal Palace and defeats to Liverpool and Leicester.
Spurs are now six points off leaders Liverpool and those conversations about whether they are genuine title contenders are going to shift, particularly if Tottenham can't rediscover their form over the busy festive period.
