Keane, who lives in a mansion in Hale, captioned the post: "On the ferry heading home with my youngest."

The father-of-five seemed to be looking forward to his trip on the other side of the Irish sea after spending the summer on Euro 2020 coverage.

His Instagram followers sent well wishes, with one replying: "Safe travels."

Another said: "Kids are a blessing"

The post comes just two days after the star showed his 1.4million followers a glimpse of his £3.2m Cheshire mansion, which comes with its own swimming pool, pool house, and tennis courts.

Shown watering his plants in the sun, the 49-year-old captioned the post: "Real men water their box balls. No editing was done to create this six pack."

To which footballing legend David Beckham replied jokingly: "Loving the balls" with a laughing face emoji.
