Roy Keane shares heart-warming Instagram picture as he visits his mother

Roy Keane has taken to his now-famous Instagram page with a heart-warming post while visiting a family member.

The Manchester United and Ireland legend took to his social media on Monday afternoon to share a picture of him and his mother Marie.

Giving a cheeky nod to his playing and management style, Roy captioned the post 'The only boss I listen to'.

Keane has always been close with his parents and he regularly paid for his family to come over to Nottingham and Manchester for matches.

He also dug into his own pockets to help his parents relocate to a house in the countryside at Rathpeacon, 10 minutes from their old neighbourhood.

The 49-year-old was left devastated when his father Mossie - one of 15 children born to his parents in Evergreen Buildings in Cork - passed away in 2019 after battling illness for a time.

It comes just weeks after Roy was left 'quite moved' after his mother found his old playing shirt in her Cork attic.

Keane regularly visits Cork and it was revealed that he took a trip down memory lane and recently reminisced on his time at Nottingham Forest, where he spent three seasons.

In an interview with BBC Radio Nottingham's former journalist Robin Chipperfield, the ITV presenter opened up about a personal conversation with Keane where he had discussed his time with Nottingham Forest and his experiences there.

Keane appeared over 100 times in the Garibaldi between 1990 and 1993 before eventually moving to Manchester United.

Pougatch said: "He loves Forest. He was telling me the other day that he went home to Cork and his mum got a load of stuff out from the loft.

"There were a few medals and early shirts, and among it was his Forest cup final shirt. He told me he was almost quite moved that she still had his Forest cup final shirt."

Pougatch added: "Roy also told me that the three years he spent in West Bridgford were amongst the best three years of his life. West Bridgford is a brilliant place, I've been there plenty of times myself."
