Roy Keane says Jordan Pickford is not a good goalkeeper after error against Manchester United

Roy Keane says Jordan Pickford is not a good goalkeeper following his error in Everton's draw with Manchester United on Sunday.

The former Sunderland manager was doing TV punditry for Sky Sports during the game when he made his feelings known.

Pickford would have been in Sunderland's schoolboy teams during Keane's time on Wearside, but it's unlikely he'd have known too much about the goalkeeper, who didn't sign his first scholarship terms with the Black Cats until two years after Keane's departure.

Still, both remain favourites on Wearside, but Pickford is clearly not a favourite of Keane's.

Although the England number one made a double save in the final moments to preserve a point for Everton, having failed to save a shot from Bruno Fernandes which he should have, Keane was more focusing on the error at full-time.

He told Sky Sports: "We give credit where it is due but keepers do that every day of the week. They make the save and get across the goals. Excellent save.

"But if he doesn't make the mistake in the first half, you end up winning matches. I am not going to come away praising the goalkeeper for drawing. It's about winning football matches, surely.

TalkSPORT discuss Jordan Pickford's claim that he's hated for being an England player

"The bottom line with Pickford, I don't need to see the stats. I know he's not a good goalkeeper. He's not up to it."

Pickford is under increasing pressure after a dip in form this season. Since the start of last season he tops the list of Premier League goalkeepers making mistakes that lead to goals with seven - level with David De Gea, Martin Dubravka and Bernd Leno.

It's led to some calls for him to be dropped as England's number one, despite his reliable form for Gareth Southgate's side.

Of the dilemma facing the Three Lions boss ahead of the summer's European Championships, Jamie Carragher added: "I don't think any manager wants to change his goalkeeper this close to a major tournament.

"He has been really good for England but since the World Cup, and certainly this season, he has been nowhere near his best form and it will be a worry going forward for the England manager and the Everton manager."
