Roy Keane's pointed message to Paul Pogba fails to get a response

Roy Keane challenged Paul Pogba to pull out a performance in the Manchester Derby following his turbulent week.

But the French midfielder failed to deliver once again in what was a hugely disappointing 0-0 draw at Old Trafford.

Pogba hit the headlines on Monday when his agent Mino Raiola claimed his client was "unhappy" at United, and added: "I think that the best solution for both Pogba and Man United is that he goes in the next transfer window."

Pogba came on as a substitute during the Champions League defeat to RB Leipzig on Tuesday, but somewhat surprisingly was named in the starting line-up for the clash against City.

And speaking on Sky Sports ahead of the match, Keane sent a message to the player telling him forget the noise off the pitch and to go out and perform on it.

"He’s not shown enough of it (good performances)," Keane said.

"His agent has done a lot of talking, but I judge players on what they do on the football pitch. Let’s hope Pogba can do his talking on the pitch."

Once again it was a subdued display from the 27-year-old, however, as he struggled to make any real impact on the game.

Although no one really shone in what was a bore draw, Pogba rarely showed any moments of true quality other than one or two promising through balls.

Speaking ahead of kick-off his manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer insisted Pogba is still focused on United despite the renewed speculation about his future.

"Paul's got the hunger and appetite to play. He wants to train and he's focused on performing when he gets a chance," said Solskjaer.

"There's been other players refusing to train and refusing to play - they're not here any more, of course - but Paul's not once done that."
