Roy Keane's media appearances could hinder Nottingham Forest's transfer business, says Stan Collymore

Stan Collymore believes Nottingham Forest may be hindered this summer, when it comes to signing new players.

The former Reds striker admits he has doubts about Roy Keane’s media appearances, and whether or not it will reflect well on the club when it comes to possible new recruits, as Martin O’Neill plots a busy recruitment drive at the City Ground.

Keane was widely praised for his summation during last week’s Manchester derby between United and City at Old Trafford, with the former Red Devils captain brandishing some of the players ‘bluffers’ after another underwhelming season.

The Irishman is known for his steely and forthright punditry, but Collymore remains to be convinced about a current coach offering his two-penn’orth on television, and in the way Keane does - and even suggests it might have a detrimental impact on players considering a move to Nottingham.

“I love Roy Keane and I agree with a lot of what he has to say,” he wrote in his People column.

“But I’m not sure it’s edifying to hear an active coach coating other players on TV.

“We all want honesty but other pundits bring that and if I was thinking about joining Nottingham Forest this summer than I might just wonder if doing so would be the right decision.”
