Roy Keane's brutal Anthony Martial analysis that poses Ralf Rangnick decision

Former Manchester United midfielder Roy Keane criticised Anthony Martial in 2020 for not being "good enough" to lead the line for the Reds with Ralf Rangnick now having a decision to make.

The Frenchman's career at Old Trafford has gradually declined and his agent's comments last week signalled that his time with United was over.

After finishing as top goalscorer in 2019-20, he has slowly fallen by the wayside and after just two Premier League starts this season, question marks are appearing as to when he will call time on his career.

But the ruthless Irishman's comments came after their defeat to Liverpool at Anfield.

A neat one-two with Andreas Pereira set the 26-year-old through on goal but on the volley, Martial could only fire his effort over the bar.

The squandered opportunity proved crucial as Liverpool went on to win 2-0 as Mohamed Salah raced the length of the pitch to fire beyond David de Gea as Jurgen Klopp's side went on to win the Premier League.

"Martial has come to Man Utd and the big strikers score in the big moments, but his miss [in the second half] sums up his career at Man Utd," Keane said on Sky Sports.

"Excellent build-up play, but you have to hit the target. No excuses.

"The big strikers who are remembered by the supporters hit the target and the back of the net, and that’s why that guy [Martial] is not quite good enough for Man Utd. That moment summed him up."

A number of clubs have been linked with his services with Arsenal, Juventus and Atletico Madrid among the potential suitors.

Rangnick has only been in his position for a month and has already been involved in a battle with Martial's agent - although the German failed to be drawn on it.

But with the haste of the comments from Philippe Lamboley, the 63-year-old could use the statement from Keane to influence his decision with January around the corner.
