Roy Keane's brilliant 13-word verdict about Liverpool's Virgil van Dijk after Manchester United victory

Roy Keane has singled out Virgil van Dijk for praise after his display against Manchester United.

The Liverpool centre-back headed his side ahead after just 14 minutes at Anfield before Mohamed Salah sealed all three points in stoppage time .

Van Dijk enjoyed a superb year at the heart of the Reds' defence last season, staring at the back as Jurgen Klopp's side recorded 97 points and finished with the best defensive record in the Premier League.

The Dutchman was also an integral part of Liverpool’s Champions League winning campaign and came second to Barcelona’s Lionel Messi in the 2019 Ballon d'Or voting.

And so far this season, the former Celtic man has continued his impressive form with Keane delivering a 13-word verdict on the defender post-match.

“Beast of a player, beast of a man, my goodness what a player,” the Irishman told Sky Sports.

Before adding: “He’s got a good habit of being in the right place at the right time.

“You think of the difference he and the goalkeeper has made since he has come to the club. To me, they were the final pieces.

“Liverpool were decent to watch, they were scoring goals but you really still thought goalkeeper, centre-half, in terms of winning league titles, they’re short.”
