Roy Keane riled by Graeme Souness' Liverpool success comment in Sky Sports studio clash

Roy Keane was riled by Graeme Souness saying Liverpool are "close" to being a great team.

The Manchester United legend was discussing the Reds' growth over the past few years in which they have done well in both Europe and the Premier League, while in the Sky Sports studio.

Keane said: "They [Liverpool] have been brilliant in Europe over the past few years, and everyone's been getting carried away with them because they are so brilliant.

"But this will be their first league title. You've got to win a few league titles first."

Responding to Keane's comments, Souness interrupted: "They are bordering on being that [great] when you look at their consistency.

"Second last year, they would have won it in any other year. Losing in the Champions League final to poor goalkeeping. Their close to being a great team."

Keane could be seen glaring at his co-pundit inside the studio.

He eventually responded, while shaking his head, saying: "Close? You said they finished second. It doesn't matter how many points you get you finished second. Do me a favour."

Liverpool play host to bitter rivals Manchester United at Anfield on Sunday.

A win for the hosts would see them go 16 points clear of Manchester City at the top of the Premier League after the Citizens slipped up by drawing against Crystal Palace on Saturday.
