Roy Keane responds to 'almost perfect' Manchester United performance vs Man City

Roy Keane believes Manchester United turned in an "almost perfect" performance to beat Manchester City 2-0.

Anthony Martial earned his side a penalty after only 34 seconds, allowing Bruno Fernandes to give United an early lead before Luke Shaw added a cushion in the second half.

In truth, Dean Henderson had little to do throughout the 90 minutes as the United goalkeeper registered a second Premier League clean sheet in four days.

With Martial also turning in a Man of the Match display - as adjudged by Gary Neville - Keane was full of praise for United.

“It was almost the perfect performance," Keane told Sky Sports. "They had a great start obviously. This was a good game for Man United today, people have been criticising them recently, but they’ve been doing okay.

"With Man United, you always expect more, but today, the counter-attack suited them down to the ground. Obviously, they had the dream start. Ole wouldn’t have even dreamt of this earlier, to get a penalty after 30-odd seconds."

He added: “Dream start, obviously gifted a penalty. New into the game, Man City were taking one or two chances, a little bit sloppy. Rashford gets a little bit lucky with the rebound, it breaks to Martial and there was no danger from City’s point of view.

"What he does, the striker (Gabriel Jesus), it’s a crazy, crazy tackle, he’s going nowhere, he’s surrounded. It’s a striker’s tackle, really clumsy.”
