Roy Keane predicts problems for Cristiano Ronaldo and Erik ten Hag at Manchester United

Former Manchester United captain Roy Keane has told Erik ten Hag he could have a problem on his hands with Cristiano Ronaldo.

Ronaldo was once again the saviour for United on Thursday night after Chelsea took the lead in a game they dominated. Marcos Alonso's strike in the second half looked to have set Ralf Rangnick's men on their way to yet another defeat.

However, 37-year-old Ronaldo was on hand just moments later to provide an instant response for United. A smart ball by Nemanja Matic allowed the Portuguese ace to break the offside trap and equalise for the home side.

Speaking post-match, Keane was asked how Ten Hag will be able to fit Ronaldo into his team next season and he didn't sound too optimistic. He told Sky Sports: "Ten Hag will have been watching the game tonight but he will have been having a sleepless night.

"If you have got a player in your group who can score that amount of goals, they have to be involved. Ronaldo will want to play week in, week out and that will be the problem with the new manager coming in as he will be looking for a new striker.

" Ronaldo will not be happy unless he is playing week in, week out. I think he won't mind being rested for the odd League Cup game or European game if they have already got through but we saw the disappointment if we go back a few months against Chelsea and [Manchester] City, when injuries were popping up but he wants to play. That will be a problem for the manager as he will be looking at him saying 'no, we need to rotate you in certain games'."
