Roy Keane plans to come off Instagram very soon as he worries about 'ego'

Roy Keane has revealed he plans to come off Instagram in the near future.

The iconic Republic of Ireland international and seven-time Premier League winner has really made a name for himself off the field since stepping into punditry a few years ago.

But there was a great shock when last year the former Manchester United star signed up for Instagram.

Having previously torn into players for their antics on social media, having Keano on the platform was a huge surprise for the thousands of followers that he gained almost instantly.

The majority of his posts have been brilliant - from one with his granddaughter to a spot of cycling - but there's bad news for anyone hoping to have him on Instagram forever.

Speaking in the latest episode of 'Micah and Roy's Road to Wembley' for Sky Bet, fellow pundit and friend Micah Richards asked Roy about his page.

As always, Keane replied in a gruff manner, saying: "I won't be on it much longer, I'll tell you that. We should've got a picture for this and I can put it on tonight. I'll get 60 hits."

Micah responded that any picture of the pair of them would "go viral" Keane laughed it off, telling the former Man City and Aston Villa defender to "watch your ego".

Keane previously revealed he once had a doner kebab just three hours before playing for Manchester United.

The former Republic of Ireland captain had the snack prior to an FA cup game against Crystal Palace, believed to have been in 1995.

He explained: "I played a cup game before - Crystal Palace at home - and three hours before the game, I had a kebab. Doner kebab from the chipper.

Asked how he could run after eating it, Keane replied: "Because when you were younger, you'd get away with it but obviously you pay for it later on.

"You think you're getting away with it, you think you have a laugh about it, you think you're a bit of a Jack the Lad.

"In fairness though, I lived by myself. I didn't have any food in the house."
