Roy Keane on how far Manchester United are off Liverpool FC and Man City after derby win

Manchester United great Roy Keane has explained what his old side must do to catch up with Liverpool and Manchester City after beating the latter.

The Reds moved up to fifth in the Premier League thanks to the 2-0 victory at Old Trafford.

Anthony Martial scored the opener with a volley after Bruno Fernandes' clever lifted free-kick over the defence, with Ederson allowing the ball to go underneath him and into the net.

Scott McTominay took advantage of another mistake from the Man City keeper when he bagged the second goal.

Keane has since insisted that United may be closer to Liverpool and City than people think.

The United great is eager to see Marcus Rashford and Paul Pogba return from injury.

Add another successful transfer window this summer and Keane is hoping for big things next season.

"There seems to have been a change in the mood and the atmosphere of the club," Keane told Sky Sports after the win over City.

When former Manchester City defender Micah Richards spoke about how far United are off Liverpool and City, Keane interjected: "They have got (Marcus) Rashford to come back and Paul Pogba as well.

"United will definitely invest in the summer and then all of a sudden, you are getting closer to Manchester City and Liverpool."

Fernandes' impressive impact at United since signing from Sporting Lisbon in January was also again discussed post-match and Keane added: "The recruitment seems to be getting better. If you get good players, then you get better."
