Roy Keane names three qualities Man City showed in victory against Manchester United

Roy Keane has praised Man City's desire and hunger against Manchester United.

City ran out 2-0 winners against their rivals at Old Trafford in the Carabao Cup semi-final, setting up a final against Spurs at Wembley in April as they attempt to equal Liverpool's long-held record of winning the competition four seasons in a row.

It was an impressive performance by Pep Guardiola's side against a United side that went into the game in good form themselves, with goals from John Stones and Fernandinho giving them a deserved victory.

City's win came on the back of a similarly-impressive display against Chelsea on Sunday, when a Covid-hit side ran out 3-1 winners, and Guardiola's team appear to have hit top form at a crucial point in the season.

Their form comes after a below-par start to the season which saw some pundits question whether they would be able to sustain a title challenge this season but Keane says they are back to their best.

Speaking on Sky Sports post-match, Keane said City showed the sort of desire that was missing from their performances earlier in the campaign.

He said: "I thought City were outstanding, I have to say.

"We have questioned them over the last few months regarding their desire, their intensity, the hunger, but they showed all that tonight. It was a proper team performance and a tough night for United.

"I thought City were outstanding, for a team that’s had so much success over the past few years, and you can see what it meant to them. It was a big game for them and they showed up and did a good job on United."
