Roy Keane makes promising Harry Maguire Manchester United prediction

Manchester United legend Roy Keane has made a prediction about club captain Harry Maguire .

The England international joined United last summer from Leicester City and was handed the club captaincy in January when Ashley Young left for Inter Milan.

Keane praised Maguire at the time but did suggest the fact that he acquired the captain's arm band was an indictment on the other more senior players in the squad.

Ahead of the Reds' clash at home to Manchester City in the Premier League, Maguire's name popped up in pre-match analysis and Keane was quick to offer up kind words on the 27-year-old.

"I think Harry has done very well. He’s obviously a very good player, he seems to be an important personality, he’s now the captain of the club," Keane told Sky Sports.

"I can’t really fault him. I don’t think he’s lightning quick but he has other strengths and I think he’ll be a big, big player for Manchester United over the next few years. He’s been an excellent signing."

When Maguire landed the captaincy two months ago, Keane had his worries over the decision but they were nothing to do with the centre-back himself.

Keane said at the time: "I’m concerned when a new player is given the captaincy as it doesn't say much about the other lads. But he's a good age and he comes across as a sensible lad."
