Roy Keane makes Manchester United recruitment claim after Director of Football speculation

Roy Keane believes Manchester United must get their recruitment decisions correct to support Ole Gunnar Solskjaer amid speculation about a Director of Football appointment.

Ed Woodward has largely led United 's recruitment but the club have been pondering a Director of Football appointment since Jose Mourinho's reign at Old Trafford.

The club's recent recruitment success in the transfer market has somewhat eased the demands for a specialist to be appointed, though several names have been linked with filling the position.

Juventus chief Fabio Paratici is the latest man to be touted as a potential option and Keane has stressed the club have a huge few months ahead and must get their important decisions correct.

“A huge couple of months for Ole and the team," Keane told Sky Sports. "You want to get your hands on a trophy, you want to cement that second place. There’s talk at Manchester United about maybe bringing a director of football in, they have to get all these decisions right if they want to support Ole over the next year or two, regarding recruitment.

"They have to get these details right and hopefully, they will, but there’s been great improvement in this United team when you look back to last year and the huge pressure Ole was under, he deserves credit, but a lot of hard work ahead.”

Italian agent and intermediary Vincenzo Morabito claimed this week that Paratici is admired by key figures at both United and Real Madrid amid uncertainty over his future in Turin.

“Fabio is one of the best European directors," Morabito told Tuttosport.

"It is no coincidence he is highly esteemed by Manchester United and has a privileged relationship with Florentino Perez, who has tried several times to bring him to Real Madrid.

“Yes, Paratici will remain at Juventus. With Federico Cherubini [Juve sporting director], he found a point of balance. They complement each other.”
