Roy Keane makes Manchester derby prediction ahead of Manchester United vs Man City

Former Manchester United midfielder Roy Keane believes Manchester City will have too much for United at the Etihad on Saturday.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side recorded a big win against Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday night at Old Trafford, with a goal from Marcus Rashford either side of Dele Alli’s strike giving them a vital boost ahead of the Manchester derby.

The result took United up to eighth in the Premier League, but they remain closer to the relegation zone than the top-four spots, with an eight-point gap between them and Chelsea.

Despite a lacklustre season so far, United have achieved some big results, winning against Chelsea and Spurs while drawing with league leaders Liverpool.

However, all three results came at Old Trafford, with Solsjkaer’s side winning just once away in the league – at Carrow Road. Indeed, former-player Roy Keane isn’t confident his former club have what it takes to beat the reigning Premier League champions despite Wednesday’s win against Spurs.

“I don’t think it’s a great achievement beating Spurs at home, Keane said on Sky Sports. “I think it was an important win, but it wasn’t an achievement. They’ll be slightly more encouraged, but I don’t have a great feeling today.

“I think overall Manchester City will be too strong. I saw them during the week; they were outstanding. I don’t have a good feeling in the pit of my stomach.”

Pep Guardiola’s side dismantled Burnley on Tuesday night, with Gabriel Jesus in fine form, scoring twice in the absence of Sergio Aguero as City produced their best performance on the road all season.

Defeat at the Etihad would extend the gap between the two local rivals to 14 points, with the current trajectories and mood of both clubs a very stark contrast.
