Roy Keane makes Arsenal statement as he delivers verdict on the job Mikel Arteta has done

Roy Keane says the signs are good for Arsenal after their win over Manchester United - but warned that people should not get too carried away with Mikel Arteta's side.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's penalty gave the Gunners a 1-0 win over a poor United side and take them to 12 points from seven matches.

It has been a positive, if unspectacular, start to the campaign for Mikel Arteta's side, particularly after they won the FA Cup at the end of last season.

Speaking on Sky Sports, Keane argued that the Gunners' FA Cup win will have helped them in the summer transfer market.

He said: "The signs are good. No doubt what would’ve given the manager confidence is winning the FA Cup.

"That would have given him a bit of kudos with the club and would’ve helped them with the recruitment in the summer. Mentioning the players who have come into Arsenal, they’re new to the Premier League, but they certainly did well today, but I still think there’s a lot of work ahead for Arsenal.

"The signs are very good for them."

Yet Keane warned against building the Gunners up too much, with defeats to the likes of Leicester City still showing that there are things to work on.

He said: "You can’t be building Arsenal up. Arsenal lost to Leicester.

"Did they lose to Leicester? Brilliant, because that’s the aim of the game. How many league games have Arsenal lost this season?

"Arsenal beat a poor United team 1-0 and all of a sudden, they’re the new Bayern Munich? Do me a favour."
