Roy Keane leaves role as Nottingham Forest assistant manager

Roy Keane is no longer Nottingham Forest's assistant manager following an amicable exit.

The Reds great was brought in as Martin O'Neill's assistant in January but has decided it is the right time to move on and pursue other oppotunities.

Keane said: "Working with Martin over the last few years has been a magnificent experience, one of my greatest in football both as a player and a coach and one I want to personally thank him for."

Keane made his breakthrough as a player with Forest under Brian Clough before enjoying a stellar career with Manchester United.

He has since managed Sunderland and Ipswich and worked as O'Neill's assistant with the Republic of Ireland.

He is also a former Aston Villa assistant manager under Paul Lambert.
