Roy Keane seems to agree with Jose Mourinho over Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes.
Fernandes has made quite the impact since his arrival at Old Trafford last January for a fee of around £67.6million, scoring 19 goals in just 30 Premier League outings.
But some of the praise for the Portuguese midfielder might just be a little too strong, according to Keane, who spoke about Fernandes after Manchester United's defeat to Manchester City in the Carabao Cup semi-final on Wednesday.
Speaking about comparisons between Fernandes and United great Cantona, Keane told Sky Sports: "It’s not easy winning football trophies.
"Fernandes has had great praise, over the last few months, people have been comparing him to Cantona.
"But Fernandes didn’t really do much tonight; the top players turn up on the big occasions and that’s what the Cantonas used to do and get their hands on the trophies.
"They probably need one or two more players to come into the squad, no doubt, and the mentality - they need probably the confidence of winning a semi-final to get them over the line and then you need momentum, but they didn’t have it tonight."
But Keane is not the only one to play down Fernandes' influence with Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho also sending a dig in his fellow countryman's direction earlier this week.
Mourinho appeared to hint that Fernandes - the third top-scorer in the Premier League currently - scores most of his goals from the penalty spot when answering a question about Son Heung-min.
“I think we all have to explain to people the person he is, too,” he said.
“To get the Puskas award, to be scoring 100 goals for Tottenham and to be maybe in the top three Premier League scorers without penalties.
“Some players score 10 goals a season on penalties and I’m not speaking about Harry Kane, by the way. I’m so happy for Son.”
