Roy Keane, Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville give verdicts on Man City Champions League ban

Sky Sports pundits Roy Keane, Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher have shared their views on Manchester City's Champions League ban.

City have been banned for two seasons by UEFA but the decision will go to an appeal at the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

Former United stars Keane and Neville as well as Liverpool great Carragher were on Sky Sports ahead of the clash between Chelsea and the Reds this evening.

But the Champions League ban was one of the key talking points prior to the contest. Here is what they have had to say.

Keane told Sky Sports: "It's a blow to them. From the players' point of view. One year you could get your head around it, two years is a big blow.

"You have to try and look at the positives. They are appealing it. Man City may be now more inspired to win it this year. It's a damage for the club and their brand and attracting players."

Carragher chipped in: "I can't believe they're in the competition now. What would happen if they would win the competition now?

"It would make a mockery of the competition. Could you imagine lifting it and then they will be asked about the merits. It will be tainted. UEFA will be desperate for Man City to lose to Real Madrid.

"I think for UEFA they should have taken them out of right now. The appeals process will be ongoing."

Neville added: "I have had a long held view on FFP. The idea that Man City are not able to invest the money is wrong for me.

"My hometown club Bury went bust. It was brought in to make sure teams like that don't go bust.

"We would have never seen the emergence of these clubs below the likes of Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal who have the history.

"We are saying essentially that we should create a status quo and a franchise. It'll get beaten in the courts I believe. It will take a long time but I think they will win."
