Roy Keane issues verdict on Manchester United's victory over Man City

Roy Keane says he witnessed a 'proper Manchester United performance' after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side inflicted a huge blow in Manchester City's Premier League title aspirations.

First-half goals from Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial secured all three points for the visiting side at the Etihad Stadium, with Nicolas Otamendi's effort being merely a consolation.

The result puts United five points behind Chelsea in the hunt for a top-four finish, with the scrap for a Champions League spot well and truly open following Chelsea's defeat to Everton earlier in the day.

For United, the victory puts another feather in their cap following the midweek triumph against Tottenham Hotspur and the display against City earned praise from Keane .

"Absolutely fantastic. A proper Man United performance. A lot of courage and a lot of bravery. They’ve been outstanding. I’ve been delighted with it," he said as his half-time verdict - echoing that stance with his post-match assessment.

"It’s a mad game. There was a lot of negativity in the lead up to the Spurs game. It was a proper Man United performance. They had great personality, great team shape and [produced] a great performance.

"They were outstanding, great to watch. We're talking about playing for Man United, showing courage, passing forward, passing moves, the pace of the pass, the angles, getting bodies into the box and they were opening City so easily."
