Roy Keane issues scathing verdict on Tottenham Hotspur following Bournemouth draw

Roy Keane delivered a scathing assessment of Tottenham Hotspur after they lost more ground in their hunt for European football.

Spurs were held to a goalless draw by relegation-threatened Bournemouth on Thursday night, with the result earning Eddie Howe’s side their first point in their last six Premier League games.

Although Jose Mourinho was left angered after his side weren’t awarded a penalty following a push on Harry Kane during the first half, Spurs offered very little.

And they could have even suffered a defeat on the south coast, with Callum Wilson being denied a late winner after his overhead kick brushed Josh King’s arm on the way in.

The result further dents Spurs’ hopes of securing European football for next season, leaving them ninth in the table behind Arsenal ahead of Sunday’s north London derby.

The draw though didn’t come as a surprise to former Manchester United captain Roy Keane though, who was scathing in his assessment of Spurs on Sky Sports.

Reflecting on the draw with Bournemouth, Keane said: “Tottenham were poor. I think Bournemouth showed a bit more fight, more energy, what we’ve not seen recently.

“But when you analyse Tottenham, and you watch them closely, we shouldn’t be surprised because they’ve got that type of performance in their make-up.

“We’ve seen it regularly over the years, they went to Sheffield United last week, Mourinho spoke about it, they didn’t show any fight and he had to make changes at half-time.

“That is in Tottenham’s DNA, they will constantly disappoint you.

“When you look at the table, the table doesn’t lie. At this moment in time, Tottenham are ninth in the table. That’s where they deserve to be.”
