Roy Keane identifies reason for Bruno Fernandes' success at Manchester United

Roy Keane believes Bruno Fernandes' 'arrogance' and work ethic have been behind his successful start at Manchester United.

The Portuguese playmaker hit the ground running immediately after agreeing a transfer to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side - worth an initial £47million - scoring three goals and laying on four assists in nine appearances.

That was before all competitive football was suspended due to the global coronavirus pandemic.

United's players are now training in isolation until further notice, with the Premier League, Europa League and FA Cup suspended indefinitely too.

But Solskjaer will be hopeful Fernandes - who won the Premier League's player of the month award for February - will pick up where he left off. Keane has certainly been taken aback by how quickly the 25-year-old has settled.

"We often talk about players taking time to settle at a club - it's not taken him long has it?" Keane told Sky Sports.

"He seems a very good personality. It's obviously a huge move for him, but he seems to be enjoying it. He's got a little bit of arrogance about him."

Former United captain Keane has also been impressed by the way Fernandes has led from the front, with his actions on the pitch.

Both Solskjaer and Luke Shaw have spoken about Fernandes having a positive impact on the dressing room and the Sky pundit thinks the Portugal international has lifted United with his pure ability.

"He's brought leadership, but I think he's brought it in a different way," added Keane.

"People talk about leadership in terms of making tackles, but he's just given everyone a lift, and that comes down to his quality."
