Roy Keane identifies Phil Foden's off-pitch quality that he loves as Manchester City beat Liverpool

Roy Keane was full of praise for Phil Foden after Manchester City's victory over Liverpool.

Foden rounded off the scoring as City beat Jurgen Klopp's men 4-1 in Sunday's Premier League clash at Anfield.

All the goals came in a dramatic second half, with Ilkay Gundogan missing a first-half penalty for Pep Guardiola's side.

Gundogan made amends by opening the scoring soon after the break, only for Liverpool to equalise through Mohamed Salah's penalty.

However, City then took control, with a bit of help from Reds goalkeeper Alisson, who made two costly errors in quick succession, allowing Gundogan and Raheem Sterling to score.

Foden added a fourth as Guardiola's men moved five points clear at the top of the table, with a game in hand - and 10 clear of fourth-placed reigning champions Liverpool.

After Sky Sports broadcast a post-match chat with Foden, studio pundit Keane said: “It was a great interview and the big word he used in that interview was ‘courage’.

"Man City showed courage today, bravery, wanting the ball, passing forward - Liverpool were the opposite.

"Liverpool, you talk about champions, they didn’t put up a fight in that second half.

"Man City were outstanding. Again, bravery, wanting the ball, by far the better team.

"They gifted Liverpool a way back into the game, but Liverpool never took it. If Liverpool could’ve won today, it would have been decent with the others slipping up, but what a weekend for Man City."

The Manchester United legend added that he loved not only what he did on the pitch, but also his interview afterwards.

"(I was) really impressed and Foden. I was just as impressed with his interview as his performance. What a talent.”

Former City defender Micah Richards said: "Phil Foden, I’ve been banging on about Foden for how long now, he’s absolutely incredible.

"He can play on the right, he can play on the left, he can play as a false nine, he can play as a deep-lying midfielder, he’s got absolutely everything.

"Twenty years old, there are people saying the Stockport Pirlo or the Stockport Iniesta, today he was absolutely unbelievable.

"To go to Anfield and do that, people talk about Liverpool not having the best team, but Foden - wow, what a player."
