Roy Keane hits out at 'disgraceful' actions of Chelsea youngster Ethan Ampadu

Former Manchester United captain Roy Keane says that Ethan Ampadu "should be ashamed of himself" after Wales' game against the Republic of Ireland on Sunday.

The two countries clashed in the UEFA Nations League, with the match producing a 0-0 draw - though there were a number of controversial moments.

Ampadu went down in the area after half an hour - but penalty shouts were waved away by the referee.

Ireland keeper Darren Randolph had dropped the ball from a corner before attempting to gather it in again, with Ampadu going down holding his head after the clash - despite fairly minimal contact.

And Keane lambasted the Chelsea youngster, stating that he would be embarrassed if it were him in that situation.

"Just disgraceful, really," Keane said on ITV. "This Ampadu, like, what's the game coming to?

"He should be ashamed of himself, grabbing his head. I'd be embarrassed if I was him. Ridiculous."

Ampadu was involved in another flash point late in the game, with James McClean picking up his second yellow card of the game for a tackle on the 20-year-old.

Former Arsenal star Ian Wright believes the tackle looked worse than it was, but said the Stoke City winger should have been sent off anyway after going back to Ampadu and pushing him.

"[McClean] has caught [Ampadu] on the toe," he said.

"It's one of those because of the ferocity at which he's gone in, it looks worse than it is.

"I don't think McClean helps himself going across and doing this [pointing in his face].

"He pushed him in the head - he should get sent off for that."

Ampadu made a move to Brammall Lane to join Sheffield United on a season-long loan, but still has three years remaining on his contract at Stamford Bridge.
