Roy Keane has revealed how different Gary Neville was in the Manchester United dressing room to how he is now as a pundit.
Since retiring from playing, Neville has established himself as one of the top football pundits in the country, leading the way with Sky Sports’ coverage of the Premier League.
And, on the face of it, he never seemed to be the shy and retiring type on the pitch, especially when it came to celebrating against Liverpool.
But Keane, who has very much lived up to his reputation from his playing days as he’s made the move into punditry, has suggested otherwise.
The former United captain gave an insight into what Neville was like in the Old Trafford dressing room during his playing days during episode two of Micah Richards & Roy Keane Driving Home for Christmas.
The former Manchester City defender began by asking what Keane would get Neville for Christmas, telling the former Republic of Ireland international: “I know what I’d get him. A mask so he shuts up.
“Why does he talk so much? He’s got an opinion about everything.”
Keane defended his old team-mate, and also offered a put-down for Richards, saying: “He’s alright. I remember when I played with Gary, he was very quiet.
“He knew his role in the dressing room, and that was to keep quiet!
“He was a full-back, they don’t say much in the dressing room. You’ve got to know your place!”
