Simon Donnelly insists everyone associated with Celtic would be 'excited' by Roy Keane taking over as manager.
The Irishman has been heavily linked with the manager's role at Celtic Park and Donnelly admits he hopes it happens.
Nicky Butt has also been suggested as joining the club as Keane's assistant and the former Celtic forward believes it would be a huge boost for the club.
He reckons the mentality of Keane should stop any doubts about his time away from football, with no managerial job for a decade.
He has worked as assistant to Martin O'Neill at the Republic of Ireland and Paul Lambert at Aston Villa during that time, and Donnelly insists it shouldn't be a worry.
He told Sky Sports: "Roy Keane excites me. People have their doubts about Roy Keane but I think he’s a winner.
"Coming into Celtic to go head-to-head with Steven Gerrard would excite everybody.
"That’s an interesting one with Nicky Butt coming alongside him, I’d be happy with that."
Keane remains third favourite for the job with Eddie Howe and John Kennedy also high on the bookies list.
It's believes Kennedy won't be in charge for next season and Howe and Keane are the two most likely to get the job.
