Roy Keane explains why Tottenham and Jose Mourinho have the edge in Champions League chase

Roy Keane has explained why Tottenham and Jose Mourinho have the edge in the hunt for Champions League football, ahead of next weekend's huge London derby with Chelsea.

Spurs fought back valiantly from behind against Aston Villa on Sunday to secure all three points in a 3-2 win, with Son Heung-Min netting his second of the game in the dying moments.

That saw Mourinho's side put the pressure on his former employers across the capital ahead of their hosting of Manchester United on Monday evening, where the Blues are looking to bring an end to their inconsistency.

While Chelsea have stumbled in recent months, Keane believes that Spurs are starting to pick up steam and has noticed differences in their approach.

“They look as if they have got a spring in their step again and it was a huge result over the weekend. Even looking at Mourinho, he looks like he has got his spark back," he told Sky Sports.

“It was a huge victory and for some reason when you score late in a game, it’s a huge momentum turner and, of course, especially with Chelsea coming up.

“Spurs look to be back in the zone and they’re still missing their best player in [Harry] Kane. They look like the one or two bits they have done in the transfer window have given them a bit more energy.”
