Roy Keane drops in to lend helping hand to Cork Penny Dinners ahead of busy Christmas period

Manchester United legend Roy Keane was left starstruck this week after he got to meet one of Cork's most caring women.

The Mayfield sportsman was this week pictured with Caitriona Twomey of Penny Dinners after he came in to say hello to everyone at Little Hannover St, reports Cork Beo.

The group have been working flat out lately as they supply 2,000 meals a week for those who need it most - and it was lovely to see a bunch of great people come together (but stay apart) for an awesome pic.

Caring Caitriona described Keano as having a "mighty heart" and thanked him for taking the time to come in and lift all of their spirits.

She said: "What a great day with the wonderful kindhearted Roy Keane.

"He is something else folks.....thank you Roy for the way you care ..... you have a mighty heart."

The gang of volunteers have been working extremely hard as always lately as they help as many as they can with "no questions asked".

They say there's been a big increase in people using their service in the last few years but thankfully there's currently no shortage of volunteers who are happy to give their time to help out.

If you'd like to give so they can continue their brilliant work you can click  here. They also take in clothes and non-perishable food donations between 9am and 3pm daily and you can find out more about  here too.
