Roy Keane details row with woman at Neil Diamond concert

Roy Keane has revealed he got into a row with a woman at a Neil Diamond concert a number of years ago because she was singing too loudly.

The former Republic of Ireland and Manchester United captain made the admission on ITV's coverage of England's Euro 2020 semi-final win over Denmark on Wednesday night.

The channel produced a segment on the song 'Sweet Caroline', which has become an anthem for England, which led to Mark Pougatch asking Keane for his thoughts on the song's writer Neil Diamond.

Gary Neville then revealed that his former teammate once saw the singer perform live.

On the gig, Keane said: "He's brilliant. [I went] about 10 years ago, but I ended up arguing with the woman next to me.

"She kept singing all the songs out quite loud so I ended up in a bit of trouble that night...but brilliant concert."

Keane also insisted that Gareth Southgate made the right decision by taking off Jack Grealish in extra-time after he only came on in the 69th minute.

He commented: “He (Gareth) is a nice guy, but you have to be nasty to work at this level.

"Jack will have to look at the bigger picture. Gareth is nasty enough to make these decisions, as we saw tonight.”

Speaking after the game, Southgate said of Grealish: “He’s fine – he understood, he was terrific when he came on he gave us momentum.

“But we know when they’ve gone behind in games they’ve thrown four men up front so we needed to get an extra defender on just to make sure we were more solid and I wanted to keep Raheem’s [Sterling] speed on so it meant taking one of the two boys off who had just come on.”
