Roy Keane was left bemoaning a "dreadful" first half between Newcastle United and Leicester City at St James' Park.
The opening period of Sunday's Premier League clash ended goalless, with few chances at either end.
Newcastle boss Steve Bruce will arguably have been pleased to contain a Leicester side with one of the best away records in the division.
However, Keane and fellow pundit Graeme Souness wanted to see more from both teams.
"I think it’s been dreadful - a really, really poor game," Manchester United legend Keane told Sky Sports.
"Both managers will be really disappointed. You look at Leicester, they have the better players, the better team, more quality, but we’ve not seen it.
"They started the game OK, one or two opportunities, obviously (Jamie) Vardy maybe getting himself offside.
"Newcastle, as the home team, have to do a bit more. I’m really disappointed.”
Liverpool legend Souness added: “You look at Leicester - they, on a good day, can beat anyone.
"Newcastle have to offer more in terms of keeping the ball and being a threat.
"They are at home. It’s got to be a hard watch if you’re a Newcastle supporter.
"There’s nothing there in that 45 minutes to get you on the edge of your seat and get you excited about watching your team.”
Newcastle fell behind 10 minutes into the second half, James Maddison opening the scoring for the Foxes.
