Roy Keane has hit out at Bruno Fernandes' 'nonsense' interview during which he attempted to defend his record against top six Premier League teams.
Fernandes spoke with Sky Sports ahead of the fixture at Manchester City this afternoon and addressed some of the recent criticism fired his way by the likes of Paul Scholes for not performing in recent key games such as the draw at Chelsea last month.
The United midfielder explained: "I don't know what people are talking about when they say top six teams because I scored and assisted goals against them. I scored against Tottenham but people say penalties don't count.
"I agree in the last two games (against top six teams) I didn't play really well and I don't need to see the stats.
"I know when I play well or not. Sometimes I am a little bit sad about people who know about football saying so many things I don't agree with. It's sad to see some people saying stuff about the team, my teammates and about me."
Keane was in the Sky Sports studio and when asked, he immediately criticised Fernandes for what he perceived to be a 'nonsense' interview.
"That was bizarre. There was a lot of nonsense there, wasn’t there? He’s talking about his stats, just get on with being a footballer," Keane told Sky Sports.
"He’s talking about ex-players and pundits, I don’t know why these players worry about pundits, just get on with it."
Asked if he listened to pundits when he was a player, Keane responded: "Not really, no.”
