Roy Keane calls new Ireland assistant boss Keith Andrews a 'bulls***ter' in stinging attack

Roy Keane has called new Republic of Ireland assistant boss Keith Andrews a 'bulls***ter'.

Former Ireland captain Keane returned to the national setup to be the assistant boss to Martin O'Neill for five years from 2013 to 2018.

He remembers those days fondly, but he does not rate one of new Ireland boss Stephen Kenny's choices for his assistant manager.

Keane told the Sunday Independent : "I miss the Irish job, honestly. I really enjoyed that.

"People like Seamus Coleman, Seamus McDonagh, Steve Guppy. Ah listen, I loved it.

"If I can make one point about the new Irish staff.

"I've heard a lot of bulls***ters over the last 10 years and Keith Andrews is up there with the best of them."

Andrews served as an assistant to Kenny for Ireland's U21 side before, as predetermined, Kenny took over the reigns of the senior side from Mick McCarthy.

Kenny has also moved to bring in Damien Duff, who was working under Neil Lennon at Celtic, to be his other assistant manager.

Where and when Keane will return to coaching remains to be seen, with the Corkman admitting that he has a developed a reputation that hinders his chances of a management return.

"I think it's going to be very difficult to get back into it. I'm not daft.

"I think a number of reasons. A number of people...my reputation wouldn't help. I certainly know that.

"I don't know many people out there (who would) do me any favours in the game."
